87.5% of our family is female.
12.5% is male
75% are over 13
25% are under 13
62% menstruate
We have 26 animals counting chicks
We have 3 full time (9-5 Mon through Friday staff) who rely upon us for their livelyhood
Donors helped us distribute over $1800 worth of menstrual cups to women in need last week.
We save donor money by not having utility bills nor rent nor much overhead.
All excess money is used to develop The Shire which helps orphans and us, and/or help people in need
Our BASIC monthly financial budget looks something like this:
52% goes to groceries or usually even more. (According to ibtimes and other sites, the average American spends less than 10% of their income on food).
20% goes to staff
8% goes to animal food and care
8% goes to Internet for 16 people
5% petrol for motorcycles and generator
4% school fees
1% gas for cooking
1% cell phone credit
1% transportation costs
We do however put a lot of resources in the Shire that are not included in our basic budget since they vary as resources come in.
For example, we need water tanks, a floor in the barn, and even a house.
Johnny and I do not have a personal budget. We don't pay ourselves. We do what we do because we want to.
We are simple, and we have very few luxuries... A bathtub would be a dream!
With that said, we try our best to be efficient and thoughtful with the donations that come in. We are not funded by big organisations, but instead by normal folks who find it in their hearts to hook up with what we are doing.
