Continuing to share some of the blogs I read and enjoy. The world of blogging has opened up so many different points of view. I no long am restricted to my tiny little window on the world, but now get to see through many tiny windows.

• Naked Pastor – I really enjoy this blog from an artist who happens to also be a pastor. The cartons are great, and always seem to speak to me. In the recent past he published a thought the had called the Z Theory. Absolutely awesome. Brings such clarity to my muddled thoughts.
• Official Google Africa Blog – I read a few blogs related to Africa and technology, and this is one of them. I am a consumer of Google products, and for the most part like them. I am just amazed that they care enough about the African market to actually be here.
• Peter Rollins – Read his book, How (Not) To Speak of God, and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading his newest book: The Orthodox Heretic and Other Impossible Tales
• Greg Boyd – A mega church pastor in the U.S., but don’t let that scare you, he is one of the foremost Christian thinkers in the U.S. right now. Reading some of his stuff converted me to open theism
• Queermergent - An Emergent Safehouse for the LGBTQ Community and All Interested People Seeking Understanding. I think I belong to the category of folks interested in understanding.

Thought I would share some of the blogs I subscribe to with you. This list is not comprehensive, and does not imply endorsement. I enjoy reading a wide variety of voices. I love reading blogs, news, magazines, books, and anything else I can get my hands on.

• AfriGadget This is a blog concerned with technology in Africa. In particular home made technology.
• Because of Him, I Am Ms. Patti Patti is the wife of team member Lonnie Hatfield. She does not blog often, and I hardly ever share her world view, yet I do love the way she relates spiritual concepts with stories from her everyday life.
• Being Five Great cartoon. I love Georgie, he reminds me of myself as a kid sometimes.
• Beyond Church Walls Great group of folks in California. I was able to visit one on my last trip to America. You should check out the podcast as well as the blog.
• Family Hack This  is a new addition to my RSS reader. They blog about cool useful household tips. A recent tip was how to remove stickers.
• God’s Grace in Kenya Chuck and Tammy work with impoverished orphanages here in Kenya, and they are doing a great job.
•  Huebners In Kenya Another American family living and working here in Kenya. Denny has been introducing changes to his blog. I particularly enjoyed Haiku Monday, and hope to see it again.
• Marlin & Sally in Jerusalem Good insight into life in Palestine

Before this becomes any more of a boring post, let me stop. Perhaps in the future I can continue the list.

It's been quite some time since I've really written any articles. I suppose no one has really noticed, huh? Johnny has been the 'blogger' around here, but I have a voice and will be heard soon enough.

Since moving to our new location, we've taken a little time to get settled in. We've been moving rooms around (including our office). Johnny has kicked me out of the office so here I am typing this in the bedroom. I suppose that since I've not found my 'space' for thinking, working, dreaming, is one reason why I haven't written any articles.

I'm still trying to find that space in the house where I can be uninterrupted. So far, in the 3 minutes of typing here, I've been interrupted by Andrew, Makena, Pauline (Ben's wife), and Butterfly who is currently nagging me for a snack.

I suppose I'll just have to think during the midnight hours.

Nothing Special

Not feeling very inspired today, so no new thoughts. Kate is teaching school again, and so not writing much.

First Blog Entry

Welcome to the very first entry in Johnny and Kate Brooks’ blog. (I just killed a mosquito. I know what you are thinking I should have given it a fair chance to make it out the window, but I was thinking malaria. I just attempted to smite another of the pests but it proved to fast for me.) I am typing this in Kenya East Africa on a Dell laptop. My family and I moved to Kenya in January of this year to consult local churches. We are working to bring them to a position where they can and will reach out to their communities. I am sure we will have many funny stories to share in this column in the near future. We will try and update it about once a week. We do not have a means of uploading it from home. I have to lug the laptop (which for being so portable gets really heavy over time) to town and plug in at an internet café’ and upload from there. This column will become, I hope, our main voice from Kenya. We will still send out our snail newsletter approximately once a month, but this is where you get the little details that get cut from the final draft of the newsletter. Well I am told that for a blog to be successful it needs to be short and updated frequently. We will also use this forum to share our photos with you. See the links for more information on us and our project.
